First experience - woodshop first project

On week 6, I attended the wood shop in the Vijay Patel building. Firstly, I was introduced to safety techniques for using various machines used for cutting woods. The tolls which I must using include safety glasses, earsmuffs, and being very carefully be with my own fingers. Additionally, I tried working with different machine like cutting, polishing and a machine for making holes in wood. Working with these different machines is very interesting and most importantly by me skills like craft designer.

The first my step it is make the stand, I found in class a small peace of wood that suite me and with help of a machine I cut it into 3 identical parts. Unfortunately, during cutting my circle was broken and I needed to change in my sketches to draw another shapes by my stands. But I thing it more interesting shapes than was.

Next, I cut small sticks, each 10 cm  long, which will be positioned between the stand and main tree. I marked the spots with a pencil where the  sticks will go, and than I used a screwdriver to create two shallow holes in the stand and the same holes in the wood.

When I done this, I try to consist my whole composition, in general it looks very beautiful like I was drew, but I will also have to thing about the colours, because it looks like different piece of work.

In the process of work, I also wanted to change the shape of the stands for my ceramics products, to round, but also the same shape as the main stand. For this, I used another 'round' machine designed specifically for cutting waves shapes.

In the end, I used a special wood glue, which is helps to ensure stands to the tree. Additionally I use special wooden pins, which will need 24 hours to fully set. This is not my final result yet, I plan to polish the wood it will be better looks, and easy decorate.
However, I am now thinking about this main stand by ceramic it is nor really wood, and it is not suit here, I would try to improve this and replace with another type of tree. Perhaps I would be use the same type of wood as the main stand for consistency.
