Initial research - Lulu Guinness

This post will be about the famous artist that inspired me to make my project, especially the brand. I will be write about the artist Lulu Guinness is British fashion designer, her brand known for its fun and unique handbags and accessories. 


Inspire by her own vintage and ladylike style with a playful twist, Lulu srarted creating the uniques handbags that made her famous (Guinness L, 2024). Guiness uses embroidery in her design, she was inspire by create the The Folly bag and than I thought, 'I can embroider.' I suddently realised it didnt have to be neat. (Farrell, 2023). When she was child, she spent weekends in Suffolk where live her grandparents and she was very inspired vintage clothing and textile, also she was collected imbroidery from different shops. 
The embroidery on the bag is stunning and I am inspired to incorporate similar I thing flower Mountain Laurel it can be represent into my collection.

Her collection on summer 2023 was about horticulture thema, espesially flowers are always aesthetically beautiflly. She tried different pattern to developed  her own emproidery, and she did this but without sketch. (Farrell, 2023).  Additionaly, some elemant embroideryto was include to her bags. This collection was change her perception on brand. 

According to (Bumpus, 2020) David Hodgston(Creative derector Lulu) says that 'Lips' are a timeless and sensual symbol often used in fashion. The brand looks pretty and cute, Lilu was inspired by surrealist painters like Salvador Dali, espessially his Mae West sofa. She was thinkind about how will be the better the lips should be open or closed, and the original design to changed over time.

The Icons of British fashion in Blenheim Palace where was exhibition very popular and famous designer such us Stella McCartney, Vivienne Westwood and was invite Lulu Guinness with her brand lips. (Strunck, 2024). 

 

                                                                         The glitter clutch

She spent two to three years perfecting the lips, shape, lining. The first version softly red snakeskin clutch, was debute 2004 ( Guinness, 2024).  But she continie worked on this brand and her personal signature style. She create a new Red Glitter Lips Clutch  which have iconic way to say ' I do' . According to (Bumpus, 2019) the Lulu said 'I was born with endless creative ideas. I was born not to want to be like everyone else. Who knows where my idea come from'. I really like this design because it is shine, unique perfect shape, also this brand inspire my make my brand more simply and nature. 
 
                                                   RED LULU LIPS VANITY CASE

Also, special style, the Lips Clutch is a very spacious siutcase that can to fit many things and also looks great. One of tne most stylish accessority by Lulu it is perfect Case for woman. Epmhasizes the brand, the perfect features a lips. It is ideal item by cosmetics. The bold red colour and shiny gloss to made this fashionable and durable thing.

Lulu Guinness is a big inspire person for me, her delication work and attention to detail. She always looking ahead and develop her brand's, she experimenting with ideas and design. She was combine different techniques and made unique, stylish and modern bags.

You set the scene well enough, discuss the background of Guinness' work and what she has made....but there is room to really show us in a meaningful way how this has helped you develop your design ideas with drawings, notes and sketches - this is something you could be doing in all of your posts. Research shouldn't just be a box ticking exercise, it should demonstrate your thinking and how you might develop your ideas. Edit this post with better links, notes, sketches etc.
