Initial Research - designers

This post will be about famous artist which inspire me doing my crafts project in this term. I will be research more ideas and information about artist and develop my knowledge Design Crafts. I will be doing the candle holder, and first famous artist who inspire me is George Nakashima- Japanese-American woodworker. He made beautiful furniture that blends Japanese and modern styles. I like his attention to detail and he is looking creative ways to do his pieces of work strong and durable. Also, my attention was catching by the form and structure.

He used the hardwood type of wood, fastened both on top and underneath adds an interesting touch. It feels modern and stylish, perfect for anyroom.

Victoria Yakusha is a talented Ukrainian architect and designer, she focuses on modern aesthetics with traditional craftsmanship. She choice to use eco- friendly materials to care about of the environment. Victoria makes beautiful things out of clay. Her ceramics are like little pieces of art that show off nature and culture which inspire me. Victoria's ceramics have soft shapes and colours, attention to detail like smooth lines tiny details that give each piece its own special charm. However, I am inspire by the wonderful shape and colour.

KUMANEC Set of Vases by Victoria Yakusha

KUMANEC (“kumanec” in Ukrainian - ceramic figured vessel) vase set blends traditional festive pottery with modern interior design, featuring a classic style updated for today. With a distinctive hole in the middle, these vases bring people together and add a unique touch to any space. They're designed for dried flowers, as they don't hold water.(Lansonneur, 2020).

The designs of both artist are quite expressive, but I admire most is how they make modern- looking design. Their organic shapes are nature and texture to add depth their work. I am specially interesting more the Nakashima's joining wood, I would be learning more about this technique.
